Standard Choice Offer

Dominion offers eligible customers the opportunity to choose a retail natural gas supplier. Customers who don't chose a retail natural gas supplier will be  on the Standard Choice Offer (SCO) rate. The SCO price changes monthly as approved by the PUCO. For the current SCO rate, click here.

Also, if you were enrolled in an Energy Choice aggregation program with an opt out option and cancelled your contract, or the aggregation contract expired, you will receive Dominion East Ohio’s Standard Service Offer (SSO) rate for two months and then be placed on the SCO rate.  On this rate, DEO will assign you a supplier and you will be billed at the approved SCO rate. Your supplier name will show on your bill to let you know who is supplying your natural gas. Every customer assigned to a supplier will pay the same monthly SCO rate regardless of the supplier.

Customers that were previously with an Energy Choice supplier or participated in a municipal aggregation “opt-in” program and whose contracts expire return to Dominion East Ohio's SSO rate for up to two billing periods, after which they are assigned to the Monthly Variable Rate (MVR) of a participating supplier.  These customers can elect to be put onto the Standard Choice Offer (SCO) rate instead of the MVR.

The SCO rate changes monthly and is based on the monthly closing price of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), plus a Retail Price Adjustment.  The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) oversees an annual auction process that determines the Retail Price Adjustment, which reflects the suppliers' cost of delivering the gas from wherever it is produced to Dominion East Ohio's system for delivery to customers.

As an eligible Energy Choice customer, you can select a supplier or join an aggregation program at any time. Dominion East Ohio will continue to deliver natural gas to all customers as well as offer payment plans and provide other customer service, including emergency calls.
