- If a salesperson comes to your door, ask to see a photo ID to verify that the person is an authorized representative. You may want to ask for the company's phone number in case you want to contact the company after talking to the salesperson.
- If you are not interested in the supplier's offer, say so, then close your door or hang up your phone.
- Safeguard your Dominion account number. It is the key to your enrollment. Provide it to the supplier only after you have decided to enroll. You are under no obligation to provide your account number or to share copies of your bill.
- Make sure you understand the offer price and terms and conditions, including the Dominion East Ohio delivery charge, length of the offer and any early termination fees. The salesperson should be able to answer any questions you have.
- If a door-to-door solicitor remains after you have asked him or her to leave or you perceive a threat or feel unsafe, contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.
- If a solicitor engages in high-pressure tactics, call the PUCO Complaint Hotline at 1-800-686-7826 or the Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel's Hotline at 1-877-742-5622.
