The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) affects nearly every household in Ohio. The PUCO regulates utility service providers of all kinds including natural gas utilities. The PUCO was created to assure Ohioans adequate, safe, and reliable public utility services at a fair price. The PUCO also has responsibility for facilitating competitive utility choices for Ohio consumers. The PUCO maintains an Apples-to-Apples chart to assist customers with comparison shopping for their natural gas costs.

The Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel (OCC), the state residential utility consumer advocate, represents the interests of 4.5 million households in proceedings before state and federal regulators and in the courts. The state agency also educates consumers about electric, natural gas, telephone and water issues and resolves complaints from individuals. The OCC's job is to make sure consumers have the knowledge, tools, assistance and protection they need to make informed choices.
