Comparing Supplier Options is easy once you understand what all the options are. Before proceeding, be sure you are familiar with Residential Energy Choice Options or Commercial Energy Choice Options. To be sure you are considering all options available to you, follow these steps:

  • Compare current offers on the PUCO’s Apples-to-Apples Comparison Chart

    1. Visit http://energychoice.ohio.gov/
    2. Select Compare Natural Gas Offers
    3. Select a customer type (Residential/Commercial) and class if applicable (ECTS/GSS)
    4. Select Dominion Energy Ohio as your Distribution Company
    5. Compare the “$/MCF” column between suppliers; note the price differences between the supplier rates listed and your current bill.

  • Investigate potential Aggregation programs in your area

Visit the PUCO’s Natural Gas Government Aggregators page

  • Review the Standard Choice Offer (SCO) rate information (residential customers only*)

The PUCO’s Apples-to-Apples comparison chart also lists the current SCO rate, a current rate sheet, and an archive of historical SCO rates.

To see a monthly summary of historical gas costs since 2002, please view Dominion Energy’s Historical Gas Cost Rates document.

To see historical gas costs in chart form since 2013, please view the PUCO’s document: Historical Natural Gas Rates.

  • Review the Monthly Variable Rate (MVR) offers

A listing of current MVR rates from certified suppliers can be found on Dominion Energy’s Monthly Variable Rate sheet, which is updated monthly. If you are currently on an MVR rate, you can verify your current and other suppliers’ monthly variable rates.
